Rowupdating event of gridview in whos dating adriana lima
I came across a very interesting error while using buttons/link buttons in the Grid View for editing the Grid View rows data.
The exact situation I faced is like this – I have a Grid View with a column which contains an edit button.
The postback event for the checkbox control won't fire correctly because it's within a Grid View that mangles the ID of the control.
If you need the Checkbox to reflect data you can use the Check Box Field object and bind that way.
The simplest solutions for this error is : Just change the “Command Name” property of the “Edit” button from “Edit” to “Edit Row”(or something else which is relevent to you but make sure it is not “Edit”). After scratching my head for sometime I found that the words like “Edit” are reserved to invoke some built in functionality of the Grid View.
So when we use these special key words as the Command Name for the buttons in the Grid View, they automatically invoke the built in functionality of the Grid View when we click on the button.
Protected Sub gv Autorizzazioni_Row Command(By Val sender As Object, By Val e As System.
So when we change the Command Name property of the buttons to some other text then it will work fine.
Is Post Back), pager does not work :( @Mazdak Shojaie You have to add an event handler for the Grid View. This should be set to the name of the handler which will be handling the event. Also, the code you suggested is the exact same as the way my checkbox is defined above.
Page Index Changed event, and rebind in that handler. And the method is defined properly with the proper method signature with object and Event Args. I know how to set up an event through markup Was just a suggestion.
I want to provide my user a Gridview filled with data from database, allowing him to edit these records not in order to update the database, but in order to insert edited rows in db as new records through a stored procedure. - to use Edit built-in capabilities (Edit button, Edit Item Template etc.) because I don't need to make any real updating and I don't have a clear idea of how to "bypass" the parts I don't want.) Cri Thanks, yousuf... I think Edit Index is nothing, because the whole Edit thing is never raised.

If you need it perform an action for the row, you may want to look at the Button Field object using the Command Name property and the Row Command event.
